AppleTalk Network

Setting up your AppleShare IP server for AppleTalk network access only is the simplest of setups. It requires that your server be on an AppleTalk network. To setup your server, follow these steps:

1) Prepare your computer, as instructed in Chapter 1 of Getting Started manual. Disregard the instructions on setting up TCP/IP.

2) Install AppleShare IP, as instructed in Chapter 1 of Getting Started manual.

3) Perform AppleShare IP Easy Setup, as instructed in Chapter 2 of Getting Started manual. Choose "AppleTalk" when prompted in the "Choose a Network Type" screen.

NOTE: The following TCP/IP-based services are disabled on an AppleTalk network: Web, FTP, SMB, Mail, and TCP/IP connections via Chooser.

Once you have completed the Getting Started manual, your server will be ready for access as soon as Share Points are created. For further assistance or for help in troubleshooting your setup, refer to the AppleShare IP Help documentation.
